Most images of the Wonder-Worker of Padua depict him holding the Child Jesus and lilies. With Saint Anthony lilies have special significance. Lilies are in bloom around much of the world in the month of June, the month of his Feast Day [the 13th].
Unsigned and estimated to have been painted in the late 19th century.
Overall good condition for its age - scattered areas of paint loss and rusting (adds to its charm), red wooden frame is slightly warped but hangs straight.
Found this little beauty in Puebla, Mexico. It's obviously rendered by a self trained painter - so charming and folksy.
