This vintage richly embroidered Huipil is worn by the woman of Tehuantepec / Juchitan, Mexico and the style was loved and made popular by Frida Kahlo who wore these as her daily garb.
It's a real gem with bold flower blossoms embroidered in harmonious colors that meld perfectly with the silk velvet. The beautiful rose-pinks, forest greens, violets and warm marigolds make this an easy garment to wear no matter how you style it.Background fabric is a deep wine/ red silk velvet not to mention the beautiful silk print lining. This blusa is authentic and expertly hand-made - in overall great condition with no stains, slight pull on center of one flower (shown in close up).
The side seams are a generous 1/2 inch that can be let out or taken in to fit up to a petite size 6.
Fits approx. a size 2-6
Would be an amazing casual Summer/Fall top with high waisted jeans or with a skirt. Absolutely perfect for fiestas!
